Basketball Recap: Winside Comes Up Short

Winside played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Homer Knights and fell 74-43. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Winside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Aschoff, who posted 14 points and seven boards. Those 14 points gave Aschoff a new career-high. Caleb Offner was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Winside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Homer, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winside won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bloomfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Homer, they will head out to challenge Wynot at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
