Preview: Mendon Unity Mustangs vs. Liberty Eagles
Mendon Unity is 9-1 against Liberty since November of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Mendon Unity Mustangs on the road again and play against the Liberty Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Mendon Unity will be strutting in after a win while Liberty will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Mendon Unity beat Tournament Opponent by the very same score they won with last week: 44-30.
Meanwhile, Liberty lost to Hamilton at home by a decisive 55-38 margin on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberty in their matchups with Hamilton: they've now lost three in a row.
Liberty's defeat came about despite a quality game from Maddy Gibbs, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Gibbs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Obert, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Mendon Unity is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Liberty, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-20.
Everything went Mendon Unity's way against Liberty when the teams last played on January 6th as Mendon Unity made off with a 62-39 victory. Does Mendon Unity have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberty turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
