Softball Game Preview: Lakeland Preparatory Lions vs. Fayette Ware Wildcats

For the second straight game, Lakeland Preparatory will face off against Fayette Ware. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Lakeland Preparatory Lions take on Fayette Ware Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Lakeland Preparatory will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Fayette Ware on Tuesday. Lakeland Preparatory blew past Fayette Ware 23-2. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Savannah Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lakeland Preparatory got a massive performance out of Bria Townsend, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Townsend a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Slappey, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Lakeland Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .784. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fayette Ware only posted an OBP of .400.

Lakeland Preparatory's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Fayette Ware, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
