Basketball Recap: Pinckneyville Skates Past Freeburg with Ease

Pinckneyville won the last time they faced Freeburg and things went their way on Saturday too. The Pinckneyville Panthers claimed a resounding 63-30 victory over the Freeburg Midgets. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 contests by 27 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Freeburg still got an impressive performance from Oren Byman, who posted five points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Byman has posted since back in December of 2024. Gentry Brentlinger also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Pinckneyville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. As for Freeburg, their loss dropped their record down to 11-17.

Looking ahead, Pinckneyville will head out on the road to face off against Nashville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinckneyville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Nashville likes a good challenge. As for Freeburg, they have already played their next contest, a 78-71 defeat against Wesclin on the 11th.
