While Owensville's victory against Linn wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dutchmen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Wildcats on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Dutchmen as they're now sitting on three straight.

Jaden Gerlemann was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jansen Loeb, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, St. James fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Stoutland on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Jesse Hudson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Hudson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Hudson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JV Meurer, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Trevor Mitchell was another, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Owensville pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. James, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's still a better percentage than their 4-14 record this season.

Owensville took their win against St. James in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Dutchmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
