Football Recap: Orange Park Raiders vs. Middleburg Broncos
Orange Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Middleburg Broncos, falling 31-6. The Raiders were down 25-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
A big part of Middleburg's win came down to the chemistry between Raychel Hansen and her top target Payton Morton. Hansen threw for 145 yards and three touchdowns while Morton picked up 61 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Morton also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making four total tackles and defending four passes.
Orange Park's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Middleburg, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4.
Orange Park will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bishop Snyder at 6:00 p.m. on March 27th. After each having a week off, Middleburg and Ridgeview will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
