Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Union Cougars

The Cedar Valley Aviators will challenge the Union Cougars at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cedar Valley has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cedar Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Desert Hills, who was ranked second at the time (Cedar Valley was ranked 23rd). Cedar Valley lost 15-5 to Desert Hills on Friday. The Aviators just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Porter Cluff made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

Even though they lost, Cedar Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Hills struck out eight times.

Meanwhile, Union came up short against Desert Hills on Friday and fell 5-2. The loss was the Cougars' first of the season.

Cedar Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Union, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Cedar Valley skirted past Union 11-9 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Cedar Valley repeat their success, or does Union has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
