Recap: Terry Bulldogs vs. Starkville Yellowjackets
After flying high against the Greenville Hornets on Thursday, the Terry Bulldogs came back down to earth. The matchup between Terry and Starkville wasn't particularly close, with Terry falling 38-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Terry has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Terry saw an underclassman step up: Madison Jones scored six points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Toniah Watts was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Ashlyn Johnson, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Tootie Lockett, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Terry's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. As for Starkville, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Terry will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Brandon at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Starkville will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Northwest Rankin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
