After a string of five wins, Athens Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 74-67 to the Landmark Christian War Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the War Eagles are ranked 261st).

Athens Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3. As for Landmark Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Athens Christian will be taking part in a tournament against Bleckley County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Athens Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Bleckley County likes a good challenge. As for Landmark Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against St. Francis at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
