Baseball Recap: Lake City Falls Short Against Ranked Coeur D'alene

Lake City faced Coeur d'Alene in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Timberwolves fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the fifth time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-7 defeat last Tuesday.

Travis Usdrowski was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Owen Mangini was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Lake City's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Coeur d'Alene, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

While Lake City had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
