Softball Recap: Toll Gate Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Toll Gate's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Providence Cougars an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Liv Cota was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Emma Harold was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Toll Gate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Providence only posted an OBP of .059.

Toll Gate pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for North Providence, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Toll Gate will face off against Johnston at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Providence, they will challenge Woonsocket at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
