Basketball Recap: Lincoln Prep Drops Highest Score of Season Against Veritas Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Prep). Everything went their way against the Veritas Prep Falcons on Wednesday as the Lincoln Prep Lightning made off with a 47-27 win. This was payback for the Lightning, who suffered a 44-25 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mattie Droeg, who went 8 for 19 on her way to 25 points and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Droeg has scored at least a third of Lincoln Prep's points. Hayden Rendell was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Lincoln Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Valeria Castaneda and Cate Schneider certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Castaneda posted 13 points and seven steals, while Schneider scored five points and six boards. Schneider is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Lincoln Prep is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Veritas Prep, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Lincoln Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-26 defeat against San Carlos on the 24th. Veritas Prep has also already played their next match, a 58-42 loss against Arizona Lutheran Academy on the 23rd.
