Basketball Recap: Germantown Christian Comes Up Short

Germantown Christian played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 73-31 loss at the hands of Spring Valley Academy. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while Spring Valley Academy are ranked 113th).

Germantown Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Ian Francis and Pedro Arantes. Francis went 6-for-8 en route to 15 points, while Arantes posted ten points.

Leading Spring Valley Academy to victory were Ian Harvey and Cairo Wooten. Harvey shot 58% from the field on his way to 15 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Wooten went 9-for-14 to rack up 19 points. Harvey has also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Xavi Foster, who scored eight points and four steals.

Germantown Christian now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Spring Valley Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Germantown Christian has already played their next contest, a 53-35 win against East Dayton Christian on the 6th. Spring Valley Academy has also already played their next game (against Dominion Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
