Basketball Game Preview: Hudson Explorers vs. Solon Comets

The Hudson Explorers will head out to face off against the Solon Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Hudson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 66-60 to North Royalton. The Explorers haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Solon rang in the new year with a 59-46 win over Wadsworth on Tuesday. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 282nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Solon, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Hudson couldn't quite finish off Solon when the teams last played back in February of 2025 and fell 70-68. Can the Explorers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
