Basketball Recap: Northumberland Comes Up Short

Northumberland lost against Westmoreland on January 14th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Northumberland Indians took a blow against the Westmoreland Eagles, falling 56-23. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Eagles are ranked 148th).

Northumberland has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Westmoreland, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Northumberland will head out on the road to square off against Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Westmoreland has already played their next matchup (against Rappahannock), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
