Baseball Game Preview: Patterson Tigers vs. East Union Lancers

The Patterson Tigers will challenge the East Union Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Patterson will be strutting in after a win while East Union will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Patterson earned an 8-4 victory over Central Valley. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won four in a row.

Max Medina and Cole Medina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Medina tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cole pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, Max didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. At bat, Medina scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Cole scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Cole also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Caden Lozano was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Patterson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Valley only posted a batting average of .214.

Meanwhile, East Union started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Central Catholic. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders on Friday.

Peyton Heath made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jackson Fay, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

East Union's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-6. As for Patterson, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
