Softball Recap: Antigo Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Antigo was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lakeland Thunderbirds by a score of 12-8. The Red Robins haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Evie Lucht, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Breleigh Akright, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Antigo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeland only managed ten.

The win got Antigo back to even at 7-7. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antigo will challenge Medford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Robins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Lakeland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mosinee at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
