Baseball Recap: McCutcheon Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Danville, McCutcheon was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Western Panthers. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Jon Riley was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of McCutcheon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

McCutcheon's record is now 5-7. As for Western, their defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-3.

Looking ahead, McCutcheon will head out on the road to square off against Lafayette Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mavericks are facing the Bronchos at the right time seeing as the Bronchos are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Western, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
