Basketball Recap: Billingsley Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kyle Boice and Dequavion Ray

Billingsley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost to the Isabella Mustangs on the road by a 54-40 margin. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Billingsley's loss came despite strong showings from Dequavion Ray and Kyle Boice. Ray shot 55% from the field to rack up 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Boice almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards. Boice is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Cutler, who posted two points and three steals.

Billingsley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Isabella, they moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Billingsley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Autauga Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Isabella, they and Verbena will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played.
