Volleyball Recap: Westminster Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After flying high against MICDS on Monday, Westminster Christian came back down to earth. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lindbergh Flyers on Wednesday. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

While Westminster Christian had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 24-26, 25-18.

Lyric Hughes paced Westminster Christian's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hughes got some help from Sophia Arana and her 18 assists. Bella Blanchard controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Lindbergh found their leader in freshman Julie Jenkerson, who had 21 digs and five aces. Jenkerson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Eller, who had 13 assists and two aces.

Westminster Christian's loss dropped their record down to 22-6-1. As for Lindbergh, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.

Westminster Christian has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Whitfield on the 10th. As for Lindbergh, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Eureka on the 9th.
