Basketball Recap: Swainsboro Tigers vs. Statesboro Blue Devils
Swainsboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Statesboro Blue Devils, falling 66-45. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-42 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Swainsboro lost, don't look at Tonia Ricks. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 16 en route to 24 points and eight rebounds. Ricks is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kali Brown, who posted seven points along with five boards and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Statesboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Azziza Flowers, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Flowers is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Myers, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.
Swainsboro's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Statesboro, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11.
Swainsboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-34 defeat against Savannah Country Day on the 4th. As for Statesboro, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-38 loss against Bradwell Institute on the 4th.
