Pringle, Page led the Tiger defense to a shutout in the Division II state championship.

The high school football season in Ohio came to a close over the weekend of Dec. 1-2 with the crowning of seven state champions. Washington (Massillon) was among the winners, beating Archbishop Hoban for the Division II state title. That victory helped propel the Tigers to the No. 1 ranking in the final MaxPreps Ohio Top 25.

With the 7-2 win over Archbishop Hoban, Washington (16-0) secured the school's 25th state football title and its first football championship in the playoff era. Dorian Pringle and Ryan Page played their way into 14 and 13 tackles respectively as the defense pitched a shutout.

Tigers running back Mylen Lenix scored the only touchdown of the game when he bolted in from six yards out. A blocked punt by Chase Bond in the second quarter set up the scoring opportunity.

St. Edward (Lakewood) wrestled the Division I state title from Springfield following a 31-21 triumph to take over the No. 2 spot ahead of Hoban who sits No. 3 at season's end. St. Edward running back Brandon White ran for 235 yards and three touchdowns in the state title game.

Washington (16-0), No. 4 Central Catholic (Toledo) (16-0), No. 7 Marion Local (Maria Stein) (16-0) and No. 9 Perry  (16-0) all finished the season unbeaten. Other state champions that concluded their season ranked in the MaxPreps Ohio Top 25 include No. 5 Glenville (Cleveland) (13-3) and No. 23 Kirtland (15-1).
