Recap: Benicia Panthers vs. Mt. Diablo Red Devils
The Benicia Panthers''s five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 26-17 victory over Mt. Diablo. The win was just what Benicia needed coming off of a 49-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Benicia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raymond Avila, who gained 167 total yards. Cameron Holden was another key contributor, throwing for 126 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Mt. Diablo still got an impressive performance from Herschel Turner Jr, who rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per carry. Turner Jr hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games.
Benicia's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Mt. Diablo, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
Benicia will take on College Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. College Park is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Mt. Diablo, they will head out on the road to face off against Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
