Basketball Recap: Primero Bulldogs vs. Kim/Branson Mustangs

The Primero Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Kim/Branson 35-31. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Primero in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost eight in a row.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riley Monarco, who scored six points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aimee Mincic, who scored nine points.

Kim/Branson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gianna Shiveley out in front who scored 12 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shiveley has scored all season. Lexi Winford was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Primero has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Kim/Branson, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Primero will take on the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Colorado (the Patriots are ranked 118th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 279th). As for Kim/Branson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hanover is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
