Baseball Game Preview: Rockridge Rockets vs. Sherrard Tigers

Rockridge is 0-10 against Sherrard since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Rockets will face off against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Rockridge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Rockridge made easy work of East Dubuque and carried off a 9-3 win.

Sherrard came out on top against Orion on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Tigers blew past the Chargers 10-2. Considering the Tigers have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Harrison Curry was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Garrett Woodward, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Sherrard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Sherrard is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Rockridge, their record now sits at 16-12.

Rockridge couldn't quite finish off Sherrard in their previous matchup back in April and fell 3-1. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
