Recap: Monarch Coyotes vs. Horizon Hawks
There's no place like home for the Monarch Coyotes, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They skirted past Horizon 66-64. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Monarch has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monarch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Carlson, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Carlson pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Johnson, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Horizon still got an impressive performance from Brady Greene, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aiden Greene, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Monarch pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points per game. As for Horizon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Monarch will head out on the road to take on Regis Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Regis Jesuit knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Monarch likes a good challenge. As for Horizon, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Northglenn at 7:00 p.m.
