Softball Game Preview: Luverne Tigers vs. Ariton Purple Cats

The Luverne Tigers will square off against the Ariton Purple Cats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Luverne's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brantley on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Ariton came up short against Kinston on Monday, falling 12-1. The contest marked the Purple Cats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Ariton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Ezell, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Luverne now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Ariton, they dropped their record down to 7-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Luverne was able to grind out a solid win over Ariton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 11-7. Does Luverne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ariton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
