Basketball Recap: A.C. Flora Drops Season-High Score on Dreher

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask A.C. Flora). They blew past the Dreher Blue Devils, posting a 69-19 win. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 127th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead A.C. Flora to victory, but perhaps none more so than Teonna Draughn, who posted 19 points and six rebounds. Draughn has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Naja Gray, who scored four points and nine steals.

Despite the defeat, Dreher saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kynadi Breland earned seven points and 11 boards. Alajaye Murdaugh also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The victory was the third in a row for A.C. Flora, bringing their record for this year to 7-10. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Dreher, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

A.C. Flora has already played their next game, a 63-27 win against Richland Northeast on the 15th. As for Dreher, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 92-23 loss against South Pointe on the 17th.
