Volleyball Recap: Centennial Baptist Takes a Loss

If Centennial Baptist was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Treasure Valley Classical Academy on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs lost 3-0 to the Riverstone International Otters on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Otters: they've now lost eight in a row.

While Centennial Baptist had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Centennial Baptist still got an impressive performance from Leilani Malepeai, who had 11 kills, four digs, two blocks, and two aces. Malepeai has been hot, having posted five or more kills the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Hayek, who had six kills and six digs.

Centennial Baptist's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Riverstone International, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
