Basketball Recap: Salem Christian School Defenders vs. Community Baptist Conquerors
Salem Christian School extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Community Baptist Conquerors. The game was a 20-20 toss-up at halftime, but the Defenders couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, Salem Christian School still got an impressive performance from Parker Copeland, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Dimitri Heitschmidt, who put up four points and six blocks.
As for Community Baptist, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-5. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly 12 points.
Zavien Russell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 12-for-28 en route to 29 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. His big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Miller, who scored eight points and seven boards.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem Christian School and Sheets Memorial Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Community Baptist will take on Faith Christian Academy in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
