Baseball Recap: Mission College Prep Takes a Loss

After flying high against Yosemite last Wednesday, Mission College Prep came back down to earth. The Royals fell just short of the Arroyo Grande Eagles by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 back in March.

Mission College Prep got a good showing from Jaron Miles, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Miles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Julian Cortez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Mission College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Arroyo Grande, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-13-1.

While Mission College Prep had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
