Basketball Recap: Savion Viser Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bridge to Independence

Poinciana saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bridge to Independence Wildcats by a score of 63-50. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Wildcats are ranked 420th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Poinciana's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savion Viser, who posted 18 points along with seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmel Hill, who earned 17 points.

When it comes to explaining why Bridge to Independence lost, don't look at Micah Becker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. Another player making a difference was Jye Moreno, who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Poinciana's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Bridge to Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Poinciana and Bush will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Poinciana is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season. As for Bridge to Independence, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Forest Lake Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Bridge to Independence is facing Forest Lake Academy at the right time seeing as Forest Lake Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
