Basketball Recap: Western Reserve Academy Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for Western Reserve Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-53 victory over the Laurel Gators on Thursday. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Gators are ranked 178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brooklyn Hall was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 16 on her way to 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Islay Moore was another key player, going 6 for 11 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Western Reserve Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Laurel, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Western Reserve Academy will welcome Oakland Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Laurel, they will take on Lutheran East at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
