McLoud dropped down to 6-17 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Pauls Valley Panthers by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Redskins have suffered since March 3rd.
Parker Ryan put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Brayden Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season. Jariah Freeman was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
As for Pauls Valley, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-17. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 5th.
Like McLoud, Pauls Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Ryan Dennis. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Dennis was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Zac Hayes was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Bratt, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
While McLoud had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
