New Lothrop waltzed into their game on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Durand Railroaders 45-24. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Railroaders are ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Durand had strong showings from Raine Smith, who went 5 for 12 en route to 11 points, and Izabell Konesny, who posted ten points.

New Lothrop pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points per game. As for Durand, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-4.
