Nicholas County has gone 6-1 against Greenbrier West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will welcome the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Nicholas County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Nicholas County after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sissonville. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Nicholas County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Burns, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Burns is becoming a predictor of the Grizzlies' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Greenbrier West had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past River View 15-5 on Friday. The Cavaliers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 18-2).
Scott McClung was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Landen Doss was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Bradley Hodge was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Greenbrier West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River View only posted an OBP of .423.
Greenbrier West's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Nicholas County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
Nicholas County came out on top in a nail-biter against Greenbrier West in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 11-9. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
