Baseball Recap: Clear Lake Drops Season-High Score on Lower Lake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clear Lake). They put the hurt on the Lower Lake Trojans with a sharp 15-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Adam Bruch JR made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Clear Lake got a massive performance out of Johnny Gonzales Jr, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Ezekiel Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Clear Lake hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lower Lake struck out eight times.

The victory was the third in a row for Clear Lake, bringing their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lower Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Clear Lake wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-6 victory against Middletown on the 13th. As for Lower Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against Cloverdale on the 13th.
