Softball Recap: Cumby Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Cumby had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Martins Mill Mustangs on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since April 15, 2024.

Martins Mill's batters probably weren't too happy with Bella Faulknor, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Faulknor.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Horne, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Summer Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cumby's victory bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Martins Mill, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Coming up, Cumby will be playing at home against Fruitvale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Martins Mill, they are taking a road trip to face off against Hawkins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
