Baseball Recap: Taos Comes Up Short

Taos scored first but ultimately less than Bloomfield in their contest on Tuesday. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bloomfield Bobcats. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Christian Fresquez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Taos: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Gonzales, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Fresquez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Taos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Taos' defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bloomfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. As for Bloomfield, they are taking a road trip to face off against Piedra Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Piedra Vista has won four straight at home, while Bloomfield won six straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.
