Basketball Recap: Los Fresnos Finds Playoff Glory Versus Edinburg North

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Los Fresnos walked away with it. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over the Edinburg North Cougars on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on three straight.

Los Fresnos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Solis, who posted 13 points and six boards. That's the most points Solis has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gio Galvan, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Los Fresnos was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edinburg North only one assist.

Edinburg North's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raul Palacios, who earned ten points and five boards. Palacios is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Roel Palacios was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Los Fresnos pushed their record up to 27-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points over those games. As for Edinburg North, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-17.

Los Fresnos has already played their next matchup, an 88-55 loss against East Central on the 21st. Edinburg North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
