Softball Recap: Anson Comes Up Short

If Anson was feeling good fresh off their 12-5 takedown of Forest Hills on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bearcats fell 9-4 to the Richmond Raiders on Monday. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Allie Steagall made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Horne, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Anson's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Richmond, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.

Anson has already played their next contest, an 11-0 defeat against Piedmont on the 16th. As for Richmond, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 15-0 loss against Scotland on the 17th.
