Soccer Game Preview: Dixon vs. Rio Linda

The Dixon Rams will challenge the Rio Linda Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Rio Linda will be up against a hot Dixon team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Dixon's defense stepped up to hand Natomas a 4-0 shutout on Friday. The Rams' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five matches.

They hit Natomas with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from David Lupercio, Zavier Zuniga, Oscar Cuellar, and Cooper Ngo.

Meanwhile, on WednesdaySutter kept up with Rio Linda until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. Rio Linda put the hurt on Sutter with a sharp 5-0 win. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Huskies are ranked 930th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dixon is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven games. As for Rio Linda, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6-4.
