Softball Game Preview: Umatilla Bulldogs vs. Tavares Bulldogs

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up.

Last Tuesday, Umatilla didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Dora Christian Academy and fell 8-7.

Umatilla saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mittie O'Brien, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. O'Brien is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Tavares made easy work of Mount Dora on Friday and carried off a 10-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Nina Earl was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Lawrence, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Tavares was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Dora only posted a batting average of .133.

Tavares' record now sits at 2-0. As for Umatilla, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Umatilla was able to grind out a solid win over Tavares in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 11-8. Will Umatilla repeat their success, or does Tavares have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
