Preview: Aquinas Fightin' Irish vs. Glascock County Panthers
The Aquinas Fightin' Irish will be playing in front of their home fans against the Glascock County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Aquinas will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Aquinas stacked a third blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They really took it to Warren County for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-8 victory on the road. With Aquinas ahead 35-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Aquinas can attribute much of their success to Jim Franklin, who threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt, and Buddyrow Garrer, who picked up 195 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Aquinas also got help from Jack Rhodes who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Aquinas' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Jaden Wuerth was especially locked on to Warren County's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Glascock County was the victim of a rough 47-27 loss at the hands of Wilkinson County on Friday.
Aquinas has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Glascock County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
