Football Game Preview: Orange Grove Bulldogs vs. Mathis Pirates

Orange Grove has gone 6-1 against Mathis recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Orange Grove against Aransas Pass as the team secured a 55-26 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won four contests by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Orange Grove found their leader in sophomore Daniel Bahn, who rushed for 180 yards on only nine carries. Bahn's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 112 rushing yards.

Orange Grove was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 411 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Mathis got themselves on the board against Palacios on Friday, but Palacios never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Sharks with a sharp 22-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Orange Grove's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Mathis, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Everything went Orange Grove's way against Mathis in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Orange Grove made off with a 38-13 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
