The Eustace Bulldogs will square off against the Mineola Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Eustace made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Quitman, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Eustace put the hurt on Quitman with a sharp 10-3 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Eustace considering their one-run performance the game before.
Madilyn Andrews was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Warren, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Landrie Baker, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Mineola hadn't beaten Edgewood on the road since March 9, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. Mineola blew past Edgewood 15-4. Considering the Yellowjackets have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Eustace, Mineola also got a great game from a two-way player: Journie Wilson. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Wilson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run.
In other batting news, Mineola got a massive performance out of Mahayla McMahon, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. McMahon also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Kaitlyn McMahon was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Mineola kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matches.
Mineola now has a winning record of 9-8-2. As for Eustace, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
