Basketball Recap: Murphy Skates Past Nantahala with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Murphy). They took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 90-52 win over the Nantahala Hawks. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 29 points or more this season.

Abram Twiggs continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Brady Grant, who posted 14 points.

Despite the loss, Nantahala still got an impressive performance from Cole McCoy, who put up 29 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That's the most points McCoy has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernado Trejo, who scored nine points.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Murphy, bringing their record for this year to 6-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Nantahala, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Murphy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-25 win against Highlands on the 15th. Nantahala has also already played their next match, a 90-75 defeat against Swain County on the 14th.
