Baseball Game Preview: Clifton Mustangs vs. DePaul Catholic Spartans

Clifton is 0-3 against DePaul Catholic since May of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Mustangs will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Spartans at 4:00 p.m.

Clifton came up short against Hackensack on Monday, falling 13-3.

Clifton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tony Morales, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Another was Aaron Tapia De La Cruz, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, DePaul Catholic had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Passaic County Tech 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Clifton suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to DePaul Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
