Basketball Game Preview: Karns City Gremlins vs. Moniteau Warriors

The Karns City Gremlins will face off against the Moniteau Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Karns City came up short against Redbank Valley and fell 54-41.

Meanwhile, Moniteau suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 56-28 defeat at the hands of Redbank Valley. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 116th).

Karns City will have to keep a close watch on Emily Matz and Sophia Fleeger, a pair of players who had a big impact on Moniteau's prior game. Matz posted six points in addition to seven boards and seven steals, while Fleeger put up 13 points and six rebounds. That was a full 46.4% of Moniteau's points, marking the third time in a row Fleeger has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Karns City's loss dropped their record down to 19-3. As for Moniteau, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Everything went Karns City's way against Moniteau when the teams last played back in January, as Karns City made off with a 45-23 victory. In that game, Karns City amassed a halftime lead of 25-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
