Baseball Recap: Aurora Central Finds Home Field Redemption Against Overland

There's no place like home for Aurora Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Overland Trailblazers with a sharp 15-5 victory on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Trailblazers back in April, they had to take a 14-4 defeat.

Kalai Bentosino made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Aurora Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Aurora Central got a massive performance out of Eloy Sifuentes, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sifuentes is becoming a predictor of the Trojans' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jorge De Los Santos, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Aurora Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Aurora Central's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Overland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Aurora Central will welcome Englewood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. Overland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
